Big Al
Al DeGraff doing 'Sound Design'

The goal of a Post Production Studio is to produce a realistic film/television soundtrack that is bigger than life yet filled with subtle nuances.

The Foley Artists, Sound FX Editors, Dialog Editors, Music Editors and Mixers work closely together, sometimes producing hundreds of seperate tracks, to create a unique Sound Design for each film.

Post Studio

Click on the floorplan of this Post Production Studio to find out more about each how each element produces a finished film soundtrack.

ADR
Automated Dialogue Replacement: The looping of lines by an actor in a studio after the filming.
Dialogue
The Dialogue Editor conforms the production sound and the ADR into a finished dialogue track
SFX
The Sound Effects Editor creates sounds from a library and layers them to produce a Sound Design.
Foley
The Foley Artist uses everyday props to recreate the sound of actions on the screen that may be missing or need embelishment.
Music
The Music Editor will combine original scores and sourced music to set the tone and atmosphere for a film.
Theater
On a Mixing Stage, all the elements are blended together by Mixers who take many tracks of sound and marry them into the finished soundtrack.
